MISSION

The Forum educates, enriches and connects our community by presenting programs and events, creating experiences, and engaging global and local thought-leaders from the design fields to enhance how we live.

As a not-for-profit organization established over twenty years ago for design enthusiasts, The Forum explores ideas related to how and why design matters in our daily lives through dynamic programming centered on current topics and trends in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, urban planning, engineering, construction, and other related fields of art and design. Our collaborative programming and community outreach are enriched by the active involvement and leadership of businesses, arts and cultural organizations, and government and academic institutions at regional, national and international levels.

HISTORY

The Dallas Architecture Forum (The Forum) was founded in 1996 and began its public programming in the Spring of 1997. As a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) corporation, it is supported by the its members, donors, sponsors, corporate members and the general public. Its extensive programming reach is made possible by a dedicated group of volunteers, along with leadership from its esteemed Board of Directors and Advisory Board. The Forum draws people from across the design professions, the arts, development, construction, planning and business, public affairs and education, as well as people with no professional connection but with an interest in architecture, landscape and public spaces, urbanism, art and design.

The Forum sponsors an annual Lecture Series that features nationally and internationally distinguished speakers from disciplines that include.

architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and urban planning

Our over 210 Lecture Speakers have also included noted critics, writers, and historians. Because the organization seeks to promote an atmosphere where people can experience inspired design both intellectually and socially, most Lectures and Panels are accompanied by receptions and other informal opportunities where members can meet and socialize with our program participants and with each other.

The Forum also sponsors a series of Panel Discussions throughout the season that feature informal conversations focused on local design talent and issues impacting us both locally and globally. In addition, the Forum offers study tours to architecturally significant destinations, as well as our Design Symposium and receptions at local private homes, buildings and public spaces of design and cultural significance.
