The Dallas Architecture Forum Presents

365 MODERN LIVING RECEPTIONS

Modern Living Every Day of the Year

 Farquhar Residence | October 13, 2022

6 to 8 pm (come and go)

Farquhar Residence

This modern residence located on a lake in the Devonshire neighborhood maximizes views while nestling into the landscape. The home engages the natural environment and creates a dialog with an enormous heritage live oak in the front and the lake to the rear. While the home is three stories, it is recessed into the landscape to create a dynamic connection along the lakeside. The residence features large porches for entertaining. Clad in a fossil filled Texas limestone, Douglas fir siding, and a copper roof, the material palette reflects the natural tones of the landscape. The project team designed the architecture and interiors with a rich but subdued palette, using the natural hues from the limestone and white oak floors to complement the owner’s art collection. Furniture was selected for its clean lines and comfort; united in tone but varied in texture.
